Protecting the Amazon Rainforest: Kay Pacha Initiative | Phase 3

In 2023, Kay Pacha Initiative returned to the Amazon Rainforest to continue their work on the Motacu research station with their partners Sustainable Bolivia. The now completed research station sits in the Aquicuana Reserve, a remote and untouched region of the Bolivian Amazon where scientists will be able to study this vital ecosystem. Through the research done here a proposal will be made to the Bolivian government to expand the protected area of the reserve in the next several years.

This documentary tells the story of Kay Pacha Initiative's return to the Amazon Rainforest, what goes into equipping and expanding the research station, and the plans to protect the Aquicuana Reserve in the future.

Antarctica | Postcard from the Bottom of the World

It doesn't get much more remote than this. Antarctica is like being on another planet; a barren landscape of snow and ice. Completely isolated from civilization, the seventh continent is the coldest, driest, and windiest place on earth.

This film was shot in 2022 as we traveled through the Antarctic Peninsula by boat, landing on both the mainland and islands like Petermann and Deception. We bore witness to the ever changing landscape of glaciers calving off in the frigid waters, pods of humpback and killer whales, massive elephant seals fighting for breeding rights, and the largest colony of chinstrap penguins in the world. Antarctica is like nowhere else in the world, one of earth's last true wildernesses.

Uganda | Tracking the Mountain Gorillas of Bwindi

Uganda is one of only three countries in the world where you can still see the endangered Mountain Gorilla in its natural habitat. Coming face to face with the world's largest primate is a mystical experience; a glimpse into the eyes of a gorilla is a glimpse back into our own evolutionary history.

This film was shot in 2023 as we traveled through the lush, green landscape of Uganda. We trekked through the jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in search of the gorillas, came face to face with the chimpanzees of Kibale National Park, tracked leopards and lions on safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park, danced with the Batwa Pygmies, and braved the turbulent rapids of the Nile River. Even nestled within the epic continent of Africa, Uganda holds its own as one of the most unique destinations in the world.

  • Azores | Paradise in the North Atlantic

Azores | Paradise in the North Atlantic

In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean lies the Azores, an archipelago of Portugal consisting of nine volcanic islands. Sometimes referred to as "the Hawaii of Europe", the Azores boasts incredible landscapes of lagoons and waterfalls, dramatic coastlines with waters perfect for scuba diving and surfing, and an amazing assortment of culinary options and local wines.

This film was shot in 2022 as we travelled to the islands of Sao Miguel, Pico, and Flores. From whale watching and diving off the coast of Pico, to the black sand beaches of Sao Miguel, and finally to hiking the rugged and remote terrain of Flores, the Azores pack a serious punch for such a small group of islands.
